Cult of Vipco is a collector‑led archive, dedicated to preserving the artwork, history, and legacy of Vipco’s notorious VHS and DVD releases. From big‑box obscurities to late‑era reissues, this project documents every known sleeve variation, celebrating the bold, chaotic, and unmistakably British world of Vipco home video. The archive forms the foundation of the full‑gloss art book currently in progress, built from an extensive collection of all known Vipco released, from the first release to the last. After years of investment, the project now enters the post‑2000 Vaults of Horror VHS and DVD era, expanding the project into Vipco’s final period.
This work has been made possible through extraordinary support from across the cult‑cinema community, including Allan Bryce (Darkside Magazine), Gavin Miller (The Pre‑Cert Video Appreciation Society), Jason Brennan (The Vipco Appreciation Society), Jason Impey (Vipco: The Untold Story documentary), James Simpson (Vipco: The Untold Story author), Barry Goldman (Goldman & Sons Distribution), and countless dedicated collectors, from all over the world, whose contributions continue to shape the archive.
Most importantly, this project is created in close collaboration with Mark McKenna, author of Nasty Business: The Marketing and Distribution of the Video Nasties, Snuff (Devil’s Advocates), and curator of the Vipco preservation site Vipco’s Vault. His research, guidance, and archival work form a crucial foundation for Cult of Vipco, and without his contribution, this project would not exist in its current form. All supporters and contributors are honored on the Thanks page, and their generosity ensures that Vipco’s legacy is preserved with accuracy, care, and respect.
I hope you enjoy exploring and collecting Vipco, and I look forward to sharing the completed book with fans across the world when it is ready for publication.
